Wolbrom is one of several cities in the world which have origins associated with the activities of two brothers. The most famous is of course the city of Rome with its founders: twin brothers Romulus and Remus.  Wolbrom was founded under the privilege of Ladislaus the Short (whose portrait is still a part of the town's the coat of arms), who granted it to the brothers Hilary and Wolfram of the Romańcza house in 1327. The city owes its growth to a very favorable location in a place where the height of the Jura Krakowsko-Czestochowska line of hills significantly decreases.  A gap in the line of hills is formed, creating a geographical unit known as the Wolbrom Gate, where it is easy to lay roads. Two such roads crossed in Medieval Wolbrom: the route from Cracow through Skała, Wolbrom, Pilica and Ogrodziniec to Częstochowa, and road from Olkusz to Miechów. Their use by merchants, craftsmen, farmers, royal officials and pilgrims contributed to the economic development of the city. From the fourteenth century, Wolbrom has been a major centre for trade and handicrafts, especially leather tanning, leatherworking and shoemaking. In the late nineteenth century, when the railway line and the rubber industry plants were constructed, Wolbrom became an industrial centre.

The most interesting monuments are:

-The Baroque Church of St. Catherine, built at the turn of the sixteenth / seventeenth century and completely rebuilt in the years 1638-1664, where equipment from the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries, as well as the four side altars and pulpit carved by Paweł Turbas, deserve the visitor's attention.
-present parsonage, formerly the monastery building of the Lateran Canons, built in the first half of the seventeenth century;
-wooden church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception of 1638, included in the Małopolska Wooden Architecture Route.
