Within village limits, lies the Subalyuk cave, home to one of the oldest Central-European finds related to the primitive man. Neandertal remains – those of a woman and a three-year-old child, were found here. Further excavations revealed also the remains of a cave bear, a lion and a hyena. The cave is big enough to accommodate a herd of sheep and owes its name( ”Suba’s cave”) to the highland robber Lukács Suba, who used it as a hideout. For several decades, the cave remains a popular tourist attraction.
