General information & Location
The Local Action Group “Nad Białą Przemszą” consists of four communes of the Olkusz district: Boleslaw, Klucze, Wolbrom and Trzyciąż in cooperation with the Olkusz district. They form a continuous area in an enclosed contour. The area is adjacent to the Olkusz commune and the town Bukowno in the Olkusz district, as well as the districts of Chrzanów, Miechów and Kraków in Małopolska Province and Będzin, Jaworzno, Sosnowiec, Dąbrowa Górnicza and Zawiercie (Silesia Province). The Olkusz district borders the districts of Chrzanów, Kraków and Miechów and Silesia Province.
The Olkusz district includes:
- urban commune: Bukowno
- urban-rural communes: Olkusz, Wolbrom
- rural communes: Bolesław, Klucze, Trzyciąż
- towns: Bukowno, Olkusz, Wolbrom
The Wolbrom commune has the population of 23 470 and covers 150.82 km ². As many as 26 villages (except the town of Wolbrom itself) constitute the Wolbrom commune. They are: Boża Wola, Budzyń, Brzozówka, Chełm, Chrząstowice, Domaniewice, Dłużec, Gołaczewy, Jeżówka, Kaliś, Kąpiele Wielkie, Kąpiółki, Lgota Wielka, Lgota Wolbromska, Łobzów, Miechówka, Podlesice, Poręba Dzierżna, Poręba Górna, Strzegowa, Sulisławice, Wierzchowisko, Zabagnie, Załęże, Zarzecze i Zasępiec.
The Bolesław commune has a population of 7842 and it covers 41,42 km². It consists of the following villages: Bolesław, Hutki, Krążek, Krzykawa, Krzykawka, Laski, Małobądz, Międzygórze, Podlipie, Ujków Nowy, Ujków Nowy Kolonia.
The Klucze commune has a population of 15 000 and it covers 119,3 km². The boundaries of the Klucze commune include 15 villages: Bogucin Duży, Bydlin, Chechło, Cieślin, Golczowice, Hucisko, Jaroszowiec, Klucze, Kolbark, Krzywopłoty, Kwaśniów Dol- ny, Kwaśniów Górny, Rodaki, Ryczówek, Zalesie Golczowskie.
The Trzyciąż commune has a population of 7130 and it covers 96,56 km². The commune consists of 14 villages: Glanów, Imbramowice, Jangrot, Małyszyce, Michałówka, Milonki, Podchybie, Porąbka, Sucha, Ściborzce, Tarnawa, Trzyciąż, Zadroże i Zagórowa. Part of the commune lies on the area of the Dłubniański Landscape Park and the Landscape Park "Eagles' Nests"
The district is situated favourably for communications – there are several national and regional roads running through it and the railway is reasonably well developed. The area lies relatively close to Kielce and Częstochowa, which makes it an attractive place for the residents to spend the weekend. The proximity of both the capital of the province – Kraków as well as Katowice, which are connected to Olkusz by a two-lane expressway, fosters the development of the town. There is an international road E-4 running through Olkusz (Olsztyn – Przemyśl). It is also easy to get on E-7 road from Wolbrom (Warsaw - Budapest). Moreover, the railway Katowice – Kielce crosses Olkusz as well as the wide-track railway connecting Sławków to the countries of the former Soviet Union.
